Well, hello Sunshines! Yes, it's been awhile, but I couldn't pass up the chance to share a poem that I wrote about Hurricane Harvey...just in time for the one year anniversary!
I'm also excited to announce that this poem can be found in my next children's book entitled, "Thank You, Hurricane Harvey." Woohoo! Yippee! Yeah! It will be released very soon and I'll be sure to let you know when you can grab your copy on Amazon.

Is it right to thank a hurricane?
When Harvey’s
damage was insane!
Homes destroyed by water and wind,
No power for
days, he did send.
Fresh water in sinks was lost for many,
Cool rooms to
rest? There were not any!
Trees uprooted. Limbs were broken.
People cringed
as his name was spoken.
Roofs blown away. Roads were lakes.
We couldn’t
flush toilets for goodness sakes!
School was cancelled. Business stopped.
Silence heard
when no one shopped.
A million mosquitos came to town.
We scratched
their bites with a frown.
But, a thank you, Harvey, is surely due.
You taught us
something with the wind you blew.
You taught us what we’re thankful for,
Air-conditioned
rooms and more.
Running water. Beds to sleep,
Alarm clocks
that actually beep.
Friends and family, safe and sound,
Daily blessings
that abound.
A healthy body. Places to go.
A nice, hot
meal and grass to mow.
So, thank you, Harvey. Our gifts we count,
Helping hands
were there in no small amount!
Men and women – the generous kind,
People helping
people is what comes to mind.
We found hope in others’ eyes,
As we pondered
all the how’s and why’s.
After Harvey came and went,
There were
angels that God sent.
To help repair and rebuild,
As our hearts
were truly filled.
With the strength that found its place,
Because of love
in a stranger’s face.
Thank you, Harvey, for time to think,
What we take
for granted with every blink.
We’ll try to remember after the storm,
The gifts tucked
in our daily norm.
God is there…always was and will be,
So, thank you,
Harvey, for helping us see!
